MoCity’s ‘Edible Arbor Trail’ To Open March 5

Missouri City will hold the grand opening of the Edible Arbor Trail from 9:30 a.m.-noon March 5 at Oyster Creek Trail, just west of Murphy Road. The region’s first Edible Arbor Trail will feature groves of hardy trees and shrubs that produce edible fruits and nuts.

“Included with the trees will be educational signage detailing tree facts and displaying sponsor logos,” said City Forester Paul Wierzbicki. “Where other arbor trails give patrons a chance to experience nature, this unique project will give residents a chance to taste nature.”

The free event will feature crafts for the kids, prizes and giveaways. Master gardeners and naturalists will be on-site to share tips and advice. Trail sponsors include the Apache Foundation, Kroger, Quail Valley Church, TXU Energy and the Houston-Galveston Area Council.
