A 29-year-old Richmond man was found hanging by his undershirt from an air vent in a Richmond Police Department holding cell last night.
According to reports, Richard Hollas Rogge was stopped Sunday night by an off-duty Rosenberg officer after leaving the scene of an accident that occurred at Austin Street and South Second Street in Richmond.
The Rosenberg officer witnessed the accident, and when he realized Rogge was not going to stop, he stopped him in the 100 block of Hwy. 90A and called Richmond police because the accident occurred within Richmond city limits.
Corporal Todd Ganey arrived at the scene, and after investigating, arrested Rogge for suspicion of drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident without giving information.
Rogge was taken to the Richmond Police Department where he was booked and placed in a holding cell. When Ganey returned to the cell around 9:15 p.m. to take Rogge to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, he found Rogge hanging from his undershirt from an air vent.
Richmond officers called Fort Bend Emergency Medical Services and began CPR. Rogge was taken to the Oak Bend Medical Center by Fort Bend EMS where he was pronounced dead at 9:55 p.m.

There is even more to publish if the hateful “Deniers” want to keep circling their small-town wagons and attacking others rather than simply acknowledging the facts and moving on.
I think it is time for these horrible comments to be stopped – and erased.
I knew Richard Rogge all his life. He grew up with my kids and he was a sweet guy. Who knows if he had a problem? He must have for him to have ended his life like this.
His parents are wonderful people and were there for each of their kids. I would hate for any of them to see such awful postings.
I hope FortBendNow starts checking these kinds of postings and put a stop to them, as the Chronicle did.

Being touched by tragedy doesn’t suddenly give you the authority to determine which lives are valuable and which are expendable. And not only that, you and Justin have rendered your judgments in a way that hurts those who are dealing with a loss.
You hate all people that drink and drive because they choose to do something that benefits them at the expense of others. That’s your choice. But know that postings such as these will lead people to hate you for the exact same reasons.
The outrageous comments to this story was forwarded to me through a drunk driver victims group.
My brother was killed and my arm broken by a drunk driver when he was 18 and I was 12.

My husband and child were killed by a intoxicated driver but all the bitterness and hatred in the world did not return them to me. I find it interesting that you feel the need to identify this young man as a loser with a rap sheet. The charges you posted links to happened 7 years ago and he cause harm to no one but himself. When you are 22 years old you still think you are 10 feet tall and bullet proof. By the grace of God those of us that pulled similar shenanigans at that age were not caught. Leave the judging up to the ONE who has that ability and FYI that is not you. For you too shall be judged when your time comes. Compassion will get you much farther in life.

When I was 22 years old, I was an independent, educated, responsible citizen and expecting my first child. By no means did I feel “10 feet tall and bullet proof” nor pull the “shenanigans” that your crowd apparently did during its overly-prolonged childhood.
