A 23-year-old Missouri City man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after attacking and raping a 69-year-old man in November of 2008.
Jonathan Hall pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit sexual assault.
Hall told authorities that he will rape someone again, and although diagnosed as being bipolar and having Schizoaffective Disorder, he will not take his medication.
Prosecutors were asking for a life sentence.
According to prosecutors, the victim was getting his newspaper around 7:30 a.m. in front of his home on Kenwood when he was attacked by Hall. Hall threw him to the ground, hit him, and told him he was going to rape and kill him.
Hall dragged the victim into the garage, where Hall beat the victim, choked him and raped him, then threatened to go inside the house and rape and kill the victim’s wife.
In a moment when the victim had a chance to escape, he screamed loud enough to wake up his wife and tell her to run away.
The victim’s wife was woken up and came downstairs. Her husband was yelling for her to run away, and as she got near the door coming into the house from the garage, she saw Hall coming towards her, naked.
She ran out the back door screaming, and was joined by a neighbor across the street, where they called 911.
The victim had to be life-flighted to a trauma center because of the extensive injuries Hall inflicted upon him. He has fully recovered.
When Fort Bend County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, Hall was gone. The victim gave a description of Hall, and one of the deputies recognized the description and knew where Hall lived with his parents.
Deputies went to the house, and while deputies were speaking to Hall’s parents, Hall attacked a sergeant and tried to take his gun. Hall later told authorities he was planning on raping the sergeant.
Hall was arrested for attacking the sergeant, and later confessed to the assault and rape.
He has been in the Fort Bend County Jail since his arrest.
Hall was legally determined to be competent and sane, although the defense focused on his mental health issues.
Hall was diagnosed with Bipolar and Schizoaffective Disorder in 2008 and spent time in three different state hospitals before his family removed him from treatment. Hall’s mother argued with mental health experts that her son did not have a mental illness as recently as two months before the defendant committed this crime.
The court heard testimony from Dr. David Axelrad, who stated the defendant will have a mental illness for the rest of his life but that medication will help make him less dangerous.
According to prosecutors, Hall refuses to take his medication even though educated about his illness and the need for treatment. Hall also confessed that he will commit these crimes again.
In asking for the maximum punishment, the prosecution highlighted the violent attack, coupled with the defendant’s mental illness and his statement that he will break the law again.
“We believe the facts of this particular case dictated a life sentence,” said Sarfin. “The defendant stated he would do this again; therefore, making him an extreme danger to our community.”
Under Texas law, Hall will serve approximately 13 years before he is eligible for parole.

With admissions he will do this again, the key to his prison cell should be thrown away. His family is partly responsible as they lived with this ticking time bomb and did not do enough to prevent this crime
It sounds like prison is the right place for him in so many ways.
when his fellow inmates catch word of his offense, I can only imagine the things that will be said and done to him. something tells me the inmates won’t be impressed or respect this guy’s crime.
