The ordinances include outside placement of materials, merchandise, equipment, outside sales and services for commercial businesses, architectural standards and public utilities.
Residents and business owners are encouraged to attend the meeting and share feedback. Staff is also contacting local businesses for comment and has advertised a public notice on the issues and upcoming meeting in local newspapers.
“The visual appearance of our community is a priority with City officials and residents,” said Director of Development Services Gary Smith. “We regularly examine our development requirements to assure they produce the aesthetics our citizens and businesses expect.”
Following the public hearing by the Planning and Zoning Commission, a final report will be submitted to City Council for approval and adoption. The council meetings will also include public hearings for individuals who want to comment on the issues.

Its unsafe to walk alon city roads to go shopping!
Director of Development Services Gary Smith (WHO?? Never heard of him and I live in Missouri City – he must be new?)
He says “We regularly review our Development requirements to assure they produce the aesthetics our citizens and businesses expect” … well that may be the case for NEW development in MC on HWY 6 but what about all the EYESORE strip centers along Cartwright Rd and Texas Parkway?? Don’t see much AESTHETIC being required anywhere there …
As a non-Missouri Citian, I believe that Missouri City is the Gold Coast of Fort Bend County already and to mess with zoning ordinances at this high-water mark in the City’s history can only make things worse. If anything could be done to make this Top Ten city on par with a San Francisco or a Hong Kong greatness it is this: there needs to be more 20+inch rims rolling around on everyone’s cars. I go to Missouri City specifically to see that and to get to Galveston down hwy6.
