MoCity Campaign Funds Range From $250 To $8,150

Missouri City council candidates have filed their 30-day campaign finance reports, and District D candidate Floyd Emery leads in campaign contributions, reporting $8,510. He has spent $6,135.

Emery will appear on the May 14 ballot along with Noel Pinnock to replace incumbent Brett Kolaja, who is not running for re-election. Kolaja donated $100 to Emery’s campaign. At Large Position 2 Councilman Danny Nguyen donated $500 to Emery.

Emery also received a $1,000 donation from the Responsible Government Political Action Committee, largely funded by Johnson Development.  To read his finance report, click here.

Pinnock reported $2,550 in funds with $2,672 in expenditures. To read his report, click here.

Candidate Rodney Griffin, running against incumbent Bobby Marshall for the District A seat, has reported $250 in funds with expenditures if $225. To read his report, click here.

Marshall reported $7,415 in funds with $7,738.86 in expenditures. Donations included $100 from District C Councilman Robin Elackatt, $250 from Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins and Mott, $250 from Linebargar, Goggan, Blair and Sampson and $1,000 from the Responsible Government PAC.

Linebargar, Goggan, Blair and Sampson is the tax collection firm used by the city. In 2010, Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins and Mott submitted a proposal, but the city renewed their contract with Linebargar, Goggan, Blair and Sampson, who had served in that role for the previous six years.

So you must be claiming that their is no potential conflict of interest for the nearly $2000 (a full 4th of the total contributions) coming from known developers and city contractors? After reviewing the pdf, it becomes clear that Mr. Emery made quite a few post-dated/post-hoc loans (after the fact) to himself so he could reimburse himself or pay several known professional consultants often used by the mayor. The rest are the mayors inner circle of QV friends. I believe ITK that makes you a disinformation specialist since fcc said the largest contributions are from those doing business with the city. Do you have anything else you’d like to spin? Oh and fcc, it isn’t “liz” its lisa or BL (you know who).

Someone might want to tell Mr. Marshall to get his two big 4x8s off the ROW along highway 90 just past the SH tollroad. He is violating state law…..I guess there is one law for some of us but not the elected officials.

  3. TaxednAbused says:

Cant Owen find a candidate that isn’t on the government dole?

What an image for Misery City…..old codgers taxing the working class so they can play golf while the parents have to work extended hours to pay the higher taxes. Fort Bend County….great place to raise a family……not.

Speaking of facts, you seemed to have missed a few givers (see below). I noticed the city tax contractor, councilman who is a developer with projects in one of the city TIRZs (special taxing zones) that is giving to the mayors hand picked, a larger Houston developer, etc….those amount to the largest portion of the gifts and the others are the same inner circle that always give to who the master directs. You still didn’t address the moral COMPASS remark and why you are defending political corruption and big ticket spending and pretending to be some sort of conservative. Are you working for the government contractors too now? I guess its that PR background you have.

–Might try reading and keeping up and not just at election time. You always seem to show up about now during these cycles. You used to make decent posts but now all I see is flip sarcasm and defense of the government “vendor feeders”. You don’t mind the taxpayers taking all the risk for these companies and paying more each year? What do you have to say about the superintendent having his new 600,000+ Ventian Estates home appraised and taxed at half its value? More facts? Go pay the 2 dollars and get the records that he redacted a few weeks ago.

Since you are sitting in front of the screen with baited breath, so will I. LOL

Thats reported in the article. Most of his donations come from small contributors, as I previously stated.
Can you post who made the large contributions and the amounts you’ve alleged?
If you can’t then there’s nothing to discuss.

      • FCCresident says:

You’re right, if you can’t read the report and see that nearly a full 4th of the contributions (the largest sums) come from city vendors and developers and you are going to continue to play apologist for them, then their isn’t anything to discuss. You see you have to believe in open, transparent and honest elections to participate in this discussion, otherwise it becomes nothing more than a circular argument full of useless diatribe. You might want to tell your client that he shouldn’t post date loans on these reports though. He has quite a few. It doesn’t look right. No stop the gamesmanship. You are wasting my time. BTW, do you really get paid to do this? It isn’t worth it.

  5. FCCresident says:

It sounds too much like SL and some of our other taxing entities around here. I love that jojo ad. running here. He’s got plenty of city contractors monies on his CFRs to pay for them. What was it, 50k?

I wonder if Schiff showed him how to solicit campaign funding from city contractors and vendors? I guess in MC Owen teaches the new comers the game. Too bad the voters/taxpayers get screwed in the process while the contractors fill their pockets and pass some of it back to their “politicians”.

    • InTheKnow says:

sounds like a case of sour grapes.

“This expression comes from one of Aesop’s fables. A fox was trying very hard to reach a bunch of grapes which he saw hanging over a garden wall just out of reach. He kept jumping up and down, snapping at the grapes and reaching out with his paws. In the end he realised it was hopeless and gave up; but he didn’t want to admit that he couldn’t reach the grapes, so as he walked away he shouted over his shoulder, “who wants to eat you anyway? You’re sour!” We still say “sour grapes” to indicate that someone is just pretending to despise something because they know they can’t have it.”

      • FCCresident says:

First defending wasteful spending at the school district and now good old fashioned political cronyism. Someone sure has lost their moral compus over the years liz.

  6. MoRes says:

Here we go again, the Owen administration funding a Kroni. I don’t know any of the Missouri City Candidates very well but the fact that Johnson development is backing Emry says it all. My guess is his background does not include holding a city board position or city volunteer role. Mo City here we go- 2 more years of the same ol song and dance. No foward thinking! When Owen and Wyatts hand go up in a Vote so will Nguyen and Emry. When QV needs a bond to keep the golf course greener, fill the lakes or some more bail money- All in Favor===”I”

      1. The majority of Mr Emery’s campaign contributions came from small donations.
      2. Mr Emery has been President of Quail Valley Proud and Citizens for Missouri City’s Future, Chair of the Missouri City Police Officers Association’s benefit golf tournament and a member of the Quail Valley Exchange Club.
      3. Mr Emery is endorsed by the Missouri City Police Officers Association.
Both candidates are fine men so lets try to converse with facts.

      • FCCresident says:

It looks like you missed the facts. Better ck Emery’s list again and Marshalls. Quite a few city vendors and contractors and the largest portion of both is from a big Houston development co. that the city has regularly purchased land from and set-up a nice TIRZ for in a prime commercial area.

        • FCCresident says:

You also forgot to county the city council member who is also a developer backed by the mayor and has some of his projects in another special taxing zone (taxpayer gift)….oh those darn facts again….LOL
