The Texas Math and Science Coaches Association or TMSCA is an organization for coaches of academic University Interscholastic League teams in Texas middle schools and high schools, specifically those that compete in mathematics and science-related tests. Individual schools that are members of TMSCA can host invitational competitions using TMSCA-released tests. Many schools use this as a fundraising opportunity for their competitive math program.
TMSCA also holds two state-wide competitions for member schools each year, one at the middle school level and one at the high school level, as well as a qualification competition at the middle school level prior to the state competition. These state-wide competitions are held at the University of Texas at San Antonio campus each spring. These competitions can often serve as practice for state-wide UIL tournaments, and for middle school students it is their only opportunity to compete at the state level.

Congratulations to the students and teachers that participated! A big well done.
Some schools operate almost as if on automatic pilot. It is true all children need to be taught. However, the experiences which some children already bring to the table makes teaching so much easier and the actualization for achieving high scores an easier process. I would have to agree that Fort Settlement was a high achieving school from the beginning. I salute and say Kudos for the school remaining so.
Don’t understand what you mean by “turned that school around”. It’s had 10 years of academic excellence. Mrs. Diaz is a wonderful principal, and she took over a very high performing school.
I’m not surprised! Julie Diaz is a terrific Principal, and has really turned that school around!
