In an effort to more effectively address child abuse and neglect in Waller County, representatives from Child Advocates of Fort Bend’s Children’s Advocacy Center and officials from Waller County law enforcement agencies recently signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on behalf of child victims.

AGREEMENT SIGNED – Officials from a host of Waller County law enforcement agencies sign an agreement with Child Advocates of Fort Bend’s Children’s Advocacy Center to provide assistance to child abuse and neglect victims.
Children’s Advocacy Center Program Director Fiona Remko said the center brings together agencies charged with civil and criminal investigations of child abuse to ensure the needs of the children are being addressed “in a child-friendly manner.”
The center provides forensic interviews, case management services, therapy and criminal court advocacy services. The services are provided at no charge to families of abuse victims or partner agencies.
Although the center has been providing courtesy services for law enforcement and children’s protective services in Waller County for some time, the agreement formalized that arrangement.
Representatives from the Waller County District Attorney’s Office; Waller County Sheriff’s Office; the cities of Waller, Prairie View, Hempstead and Brookshire and the Hempstead and Royal school districts signed the agreement with Child Advocates of Fort Bend.
The Waller County District Attorney’s Office hosted a reception following the signing ceremony.
