At the April 18 City Council meeting, Magana was recognized for being instrumental in many aspects of rodeo, having competed in several events including bull riding. Mayor Allen Owen, speaking on behalf of Council, read a proclamation detailing some of Magana’s accomplishments.
The master horseman began his career at age 13 at Frost Ranch, located on land that is now part of Missouri City, and he broke, bred, trained and rode horses for many years in the area.
Additionally, Magana is one of the first Hispanic cowboys to be sponsored by a major company and he recently retired as the cutting horse coordinator for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
