slandblender; Open your mind blender, if you have one, our local press media have a website

Taxpayers will support 100% new FBISD BOT elected official Dr. Patsy Taylor to help students an public future winners to come!
Why did the FB teachers union turndown their own former endorsement of incumbent Daniel Menendez(FBISD BOT) from 2008, compare to the 2011 endorsement of Jonita Reynolds today, plus campaigning for position#1 Cand. Susan Hohnbaun also as printed on local press OF FB STAR? All these three candidates are supporting FBISD 2011 rezone plans of school overcrowding!
That’ll teach them for not pandering to the union!
SLfortbender; All key issues of all FBISD candidates(P.Taylor) are listed on the http://www.chron.com local newspapers that SL recieves Sunday May 08,2011 .
All I can say is that those who chose not to vote have NOTHING to complain about in the future!!!!
SLfortbender; Read and see the FortBendstar this past week 5/11/11! You will see a picture of the FB teachers union president with others planning and asking you, to join the street walk with them on Saturday May 14 election day to campaign for these three candidates! Do you know how to read, if yes, then please do so?
I don’t get the Star for some reason anymore. I also don’t get the Chronicle had copy, I only read it online and that section was vague on her – and most others. The only OFFICIAL union endorsement was for Reynolds. Taylor came to one forum and said little.
Are you REALLY challenging my reading and comprehension skills? If so, please note that often it’s exhausting enough just trying to figure out what your inaccurate spelling, poor grammar and sentence structure and just plain “out there” ideas and rants mean. Please don’t come and insult ME when I actually make and effort to have a discussion about your posts when most people now simply ignore them. I still say that most of Taylor’s votes came from people who had never heard of her but really dislike Reynolds’ husband. oK! du yu understan!
karmacameleon,
Just shy of 8,000 voters voting in FBISD races when there are more than 174,000 registered voters in FBISD is NOT 30 percent turn-out.
NO WHERE CLOSE TO 30% VOTER TURNOUT … try more like 4.5 % !!
Yes, that’s right … LESS THAN 5% of registered voters here bothered to vote in the FBISD election
I’m proud to say my spouse and I voted, and our kids are not even IN FBISD schools any longer – they are in/out of college now !!
Pathetic voter apathy = Residents get what they deserve !
Yuppers!
Why do incumbents win? Because no one showed up to VOTE!I believe the voter turnout for this board election was something like 30%. Nice to know taxpayers and parents care about their kid’s schools.
Ft. Bend teachers union helped Position 1 Susan Hohnbaum (cand.) which is one of three tobe elected in 2011 FBISD election.
Really? I must have missed that endorsement – I only read about their single endorsement of Reynolds – who lost. In fact, Hohnbaum ran against a FBISD teacher’s husband – Watassek. Can you expand on why the teachers’ union would do that to one of their own? What has Hohnbaum ever done for the union? Do you have evidence or facts to back this up, or is this another one of your “political observations”?
Sienna parent voters are upset at the rezoning plans made by both of their nieghbors running in the FBISD Candidates(incumbent) race, plus living in thier own Sinna Plantation community for overcrowding being expanded, thats effecting Baines MS overcrowding! Both Nieghbors candidates of FBISD are dividing out Sienna Plantation community students to attend two different middle schools, thats a safety hazzard for transportation.
It sure was good to see 2 out of the 3 candidates win that weren’t taking district vendor PAC monies to finance their campaigns and we can be very proud of Mr. Watassek’s principled stand on ethical, open and honest school governance. I’m sure Mr. Babb, Dr. Taylor and Bruce Albright will make a formidable effort to clean up the mess in the local budget and district leadership. It may take one more election cycle but the goal is now within reach for a system that works by and for the voters and taxpayers (and not the special interests).
Congratulations to all those candidates in MC, SL and the school district races that steered away from the special interest funding. A big well done!
Yup, and throw that in with KISD’s clean sweep of incumbents/favorite vendors (all three were new, and one of them’s a retired political science professor too!)and there could actually be some real change going on in two of the best districts in the state.
This is unbelieveable that Patsy Taylor who rarely came to ANY forums won this election.
Was this more a referendum on the community’s feelings on Reynolds’ husband or her?
Bulls-eye SLF.
Still shocked that Taylor won, considering I don’t recall reading more than a single paragraph all “campaign season” on her. Reynolds was out there quite a bit – but apparently people didn’t agree with her message.
Patsy Taylor has proven here in 2011 election, that you don’t have tobe be wealthy an spend dollars, or own a business to win an election.
viewpoint, you seem to be in the know about Taylor. What was her campaign platform? What were her key issues? I barely read a paragraph about her in election write-ups prior to voting. Please enlighten me and others in my same boat.
Yes, what WAS Patsy Taylor’s platform ????
Amazing …
I think txgal if you had attended the last 3-4 public forums or read the last chronicle article on Dr. Taylor and her opponent you would have a pretty good idea of what she stands for. She got out of the gate late in the race but came through very strong and without spending or soliciting any PAC dollars from district contractors and vendors whom have traditionally run our district and school board.
Congratulations Dr. Taylor, again!
To sugarlandskeeter:
I attended 7 forums and saw Dr. Taylor only at one. She does prove that you can win an election without taking PAC money and without owning a business. We will have to wait and see what else she proves!
What is it that people see in Hohnbaum? She reminds me of a puppy dog that runs to its master for constant approval. I don’t know how this Watassek would behave in the public eye, but in seeing him around the community with his kids and family “puppy dog” is not the description that comes to mind.
Is there any word on whether or not there will be a recount in the Taylor-Reynolds race? I only ask because the margin was a mere 52 votes.
It looks like FBISD westside will continue to enjoy high school overcrowding, after supporting to re-electing FBISD position 1 incumbent Susan Hohnbaum.
It was a close one for position 5 race for the eastside.
Very good point view! Maybe Mr. Watassek should consider another run at it next year?
