Fort Bend ISD has scheduled a public hearing to receive comments on the budget and the proposed tax rate, which is an increase of two cents.
The public hearing will be held at 5 p.m. June 7 in the Board Room of the Administration Building, 16431 Lexington Blvd., in Sugar Land.
The proposed tax rate includes $1.04 for maintenance and operations and $0.32 for debt service. This is an increase from the previous debt service rate of $0.30.
FBISD’s Chief Financial Officer Tracy Hoke said the increase is “necessary because of an increased debt payment obligation in the upcoming school year.”
The actual tax rate will be voted on in September after the final certified property values are received from the Fort Bend Appraisal District.
