Collins, Gill Sworn-In For New Terms On Fulshear City Council

In a special meeting Tuesday evening, the Fulshear City Council certified the results of the May 14 election and administered the oath of office to two aldermen who won re-election.

SWEARING-IN – Alderman J.B. Collins is sworn in for another term on Fulshear City Council by Municipal Judge Kelly Crow.

Incumbent aldermen J.B. Collins and Stephen Gill both were both re-elected in a three-way race over political newcomer Jocelyn Ryan.

Under Fulshear’s form of government, the top two vote-getters won election to the two available seats on city council.

The official results as certified by city council were:

  • Stephen Gill – 154 votes
  • J.B. Collins – 133 votes
  • Jocelyn Ryan – 91 votes

“The two highest vote-getters winning the positions are Stephen Gill and J.B. Collins,” Mayor Tommy Kuykendall announced.

Council then unanimously approved an ordinance adopting the results. Immediately afterward, Municipal Court Judge Kelly Crow administered the oath of office to both men.

Collins is Fulshear’s longest-serving current member of city council, having first been elected in 1997. Gill is beginning his second term on council.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, council members unanimously approved Kuykendall’s recommendation to appoint Collins to another term as the city’s mayor pro-tem.

After the meeting was adjourned, the city hosted an informal reception for the re-elected council members.

Great to see the results. I think Gill and Collins have done a great job. Gill even came and canvased Cross Creek which was a good sign. I saw a bunch of Ryan signs on a street (Lake Side) in Cross Creek but I think she was only representing one side of Cross Creek and not the full development. Looking forward to how our re-elected city council members help grow Fulshear.
