Early voting begins today for the runoff election in Sugar Land between Howard Paul and Amy Mitchell for the position of council member District Three and Harish Jajoo and Farha Ahmed for the position of council member District Four.
City voting precincts and polling places will be the same as the general election.
Dates and times for early voting are:
Sugar Land City Hall, Lakeview Room, 2700 Town Center Boulevard:
● Tuesday, May 31, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
● Wednesday-Tuesday, June 1-3, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
● Monday-Tuesday, June 6-7, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
First Colony Conference Center, 3232 Austin Parkway:
● Tuesday, May 31, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
● Wednesday – Friday, June 1 – 3, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
● Saturday, June 4, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
● Sunday, June 5, CLOSED
● Monday – Tuesday, June 6 – 7, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The runoff election is scheduled for June 11.
The winners of the runoff election will replace Councilmembers Russell Jones and Michael Schiff, who will continue to serve until the June 21 City Council meeting when runoff results will be canvassed.
The candidates with the majority vote will take the oath of office and be seated on June 21.

So far, it looks like just a little over 50% of the early votes are Howard Paul supporters by my rough guesses. So this is going to be a close race. This is not including mailed in votes but I suspect it is about the same.
PLEASE, people!!! Get out there and VOTE!!!! She is NOT a “shoe-in” as so many seem to think. Apathy will be the END of us.
Go down to the First Colony Ball fields OR City Hall TODAY, and vote for Amy Mitchell. Amy is the ONLY candidate in this race with the appropriate skill set, experience, education, communication skills, and broadbased support from so many different groups in the community.
She is also the only candidate who has not resorted to aggressive negative campaigning. For the record, Amy DOES have values, STRONG values, UNIMPEACHABLE values, regardless of what her opponent has published (now in English) and has been emailing his supporters.
I have respectfully and repeatedly requested for Mr Paul to explain how he concluded that Amy is allegedly “anti-Chinese” (as he stated in a mailer) and also how he assumes she lacks any values (stated in a recent email from him). I would like him to also explain his conclusions to people like Sue Chiang, Allison Wen, Larry Wong, Gary Lam, Rocky Lai, Naomi Lam, Ed Lee, Terry Wang, Jim and Valerie Lai and others that identify with the Asian community that know Amy’s long and honorable record of good deeds, not just in their community, but ALL communities.
I just love the poster that said JoJo would be a safe bet….A SAFE BET FOR THE CITY CONTRACTORS AND VENDORS THAT DONATED NEARLY $70,000 DOLLARS FOR A DISTRICT RACE according to this FBN report. What city council seat needs 70,000 for a few hundred votes???

She needs your help. Even if you missed the main election, you can still vote in the runoff! It is so easy to go early vote. Just go up to the First Colony Center at the Ball fields with your ID or to City Hall, any day this week. It takes about 1 minute, literally. She is the only thing on the ballot, the first name.
And vote for Amy Mitchell, not just because she is my fiance and because I said so, or because she is pretty or because just about every elected official current and former is endorsing her, but because YOU, the voter researched her ( amyforsugarland.com ) and concluded that she is the right person for the job. She is a HARD worker!
She also has not and probably never will run a negative campaign and I am very sad to see that her opponent has chosen to go that route by attacking Amy, and now, her supporters, including the current city councilman, Russell Jones, and our former well-liked Mayor, David Wallace, both of whom have endorsed Amy, along with hundreds of others.

Regarding Farha, I went to both High School, and College with Farha Ahmed. She is NOT an extremist. I was a senior in 82 when she was a junior. I just pulled down the 82 Alief Hastings year book. Heh!! I cant believe we ever wore our hair that way back then. Farha is NOT an Al Qaeda supporter. She is a home-grown Texan I have known for over 30 years! She is my friend. I am a USAF veteran if anyone cares, by the way. Now… having said that, Harish Jajoo is ALSO my friend. They are both good, well-meaning people. Voters: Do you homework and vote accordingly. Ignore the propaganda.
District 3:
I got 2 email from Howard Paul (former named H.K. Tek Pu) about how Russell Jones, current District 3 City Council, and David Wallace, former Mayor are crooks with no values and so that must make Mitchell a bad person because they have now come out and endorse her. This is a very dishonorable thing to do and Im embarrassed for all Asians that he is done this. He does NOT represent our community. Mayor Wallace is my friend and has done much for the Asian community. If he says Amy Mitchell is good, then I believe him. And so does many others including many wellknown Asians.
District 4:
I heard from my Pakistani neighbor that a letter implying Ahmed of being a terrorist supporter. Jajoo stated that it is NOT coming from him. Well then who? This is crazy. Ahmed told me she grew up in Texas and went to school at Alief Hastings and University of Houston.
Obviously there are some haters out there in Sugar Land and they make ME look bad and bring dishonor to my community. Please just don’t believe these bad and probably untrue things. Check out the candidate yourself and then go vote!

This is about Amy Mitchell, NOT David Wallace. MANY other people, who have not been singled out, have also endorsed Amy including not just local elected officials, but also PTO presidents, HOA Presidents, Boy Scout leaders, Church leaders, Working Moms and dads, republicans, democrats, and just about every ethnic group, including a strong Asian following.
