Despite the ongoing drought conditions, Missouri City officials are pledging that city’s 27th annual Fourth of July Celebration at Buffalo Run Park will go on as planned.
The event will take place on Monday, July 4 from 7 – 10 p.m.
In addition to the traditional fireworks extravaganza, free entertainment will include laser tag, video games, bounce houses, a rock wall and other activities.
Although the city display will go on, Missouri City officials reminded residents that Fort Bend County has placed a 60-hour ban on the sale or use of all fireworks effective Friday. County Judge Robert Hebert has petitioned Gov. Rick Perry to extend the ban through 7 a.m. July 5.
If the ban extension is granted, individuals in the county will be prohibited from using fireworks during the July 4 holiday period.
The order does not apply to municipal and government events or to private displays that have received advance approval by the county fire marshal.
Dire drought conditions prompted Hebert to issue the order. Similar bans have been implemented in communities countywide.
Just yesterday, the City of Rosenberg announced it was cancelling its Independence Day celebration at Seabourne Creek Nature Park due to public safety concerns.

Because they obviously think we are too stupid to pop any fireworks at all.
I wonder why they get to but the rest of us have to pass.
