Fulshear Freedom Fest Drops Fireworks Show, Opts For Laser Light Spectacular

Concerned about the dangers presented by a fireworks show during the current drought conditions, Fulshear’s Fourth of July celebration will instead feature a laser light show as the grand finale for this year’s Fulshear Freedom Fest.

Mayor Tommy Kuykendall said he opted for the laser show because of his concern that Fulshear families “would not get to enjoy the holiday weekend to the fullest, without the usual outstanding fireworks show the city sponsors every year,” so he decided on the “laser light spectacular.”

Stage Directions, which has done productions for the City of Houston, Lake Conroe and other well known venues, will put on the patriotic laser light review complete with fog, laser beams, animations and patriotic music.

The light show will begin at 9:30pm and last approximately 22 minutes.

Prior to the laser show, the Freedom Fest will feature children’s activities – including rides on Patrick the Camel, bounce houses and games – music from the Audiobyte Band, a parade, the Miss Firecracker contest and a special tribute to 100 years of Girl Scouting.

There will also be a live auction featuring such items as a shooting package for ten at Rio Brazos and a week at a bay house donated by Sweet Tooth Shoppe.

The free celebration kicks off this Saturday, July 2, with the parade at 6:30 p.m. through downtown Fulshear and continues until the 9:30 p.m. laser show.
