New Board Of Directors Take Oath Of Office For The Arc Of Fort Bend County

More than 100 members of The Arc of Fort Bend County were on hand Monday as Judge Brenda G. Mullinix of the 387th Judicial District Court administered the oath of office to the organization’s board of directors annual membership and awards meeting.

The new board is comprised of Karen Daly, chairperson; Himesh Gandhi, vice-chair; Mary Stephney Quinby, secretary and Stewart Jacobson, treasurer.

Daly has been a board member of The Arc since 2008 and is an assistant city manager in Sugar Land. Daly served as Greenville’s city manager for almost four years before coming to Sugar Land in July 2007.

As assistant city manager, Daly oversees Sugar Land’s public works, utilities, parks and recreation and engineering departments. She has also served the City of Arlington as assistant to the city manager in 1991, and then joined the City of Longview as assistant city manager in 1999.

Gandhi, an attorney with Hrbacek & Associates, is the legal counsel for the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, serves on the Sugar Land Planning and Zoning Commission, is the incoming chair of the Indo American Forum of Fort Bend and is a board member for Shape Up Sugar Land.

Quinby, a long-time member of board, is a retired registered nurse who has volunteered with The Arc’s self advocates and Special Olympics programs.

Jacobson is a past president of the Exchange Club of Sugar Land and has served as a board member for the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, Literacy Volunteers of Fort Bend County and National Tax Sheltered Accounts Association. In addition, he has served on the First Colony MUDs 8 and 10, Fort Bend MUD 113 and Fort Bend County Investment Advisory Board.

Jacobson is the president of Dearborn & Creggs Financial Services.
