Poonam and Kalpana Vaidya have been selected by International Leadership Network as two of 38 students in the United States to receive recognition as a 2011 Young Achiever. The Young Achievers program promotes “community, national and international recognition for the positive accomplishments of young people.” Young Achievers are students in grades 5-10.
Poonam Vaidya is currently a student at Austin High School going into the 10th grade. Kalpana Vaidya is currently at student at Sartartia Middle School going into the 8th grade. Both were nominated by their teachers at their respective schools. Both god students, they also participate in a variety of activities. Most recently, Poonam Vaidya has been involved in the girl planning board for the Girl Scout National Convention to be held in Houston in November. Kalpana Vaidya has been involved in making the day a little bit brighter for the elderly. Both enjoy Girl Scouting, with Poonam Vaidya working on her Gold Award and Kalpana Vaidya has finished her Silver Award. Both dance on their school’s dance team.
ILN is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. Its Young Achievers program appears on the National Association of Secondary School Principal’s Advisory List of Contests and Activities. Young Achievers encourages student leaders by recognizing and applauding the positive achievements, behavior, leadership and service. INL received nominations from regional Young Achievers programs, educators, and youth leaders.
