Home invasion near Sugar Land
By LeaAnne Klentzman
On a posh, quiet, sequestered lane just outside the city limits of Sugar Land a couple was held hostage while intruders looted their home.
Late Monday night, about 11:36 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a home invasion robbery on Maranatha Drive which lies east of the Commonwealth neighborhood and south of Commonwealth Boulevard.
According to sheriff’s spokesman Bob Haenel, the residents of the home told responding officers that two men wearing masks, work suits, and gloves broke a window into their bedroom and entered the home. Once inside the home, the intruders held the couple at gunpoint and demanded cash. The couple was then forced to the floor at gunpoint by one intruder while the other ransacked their home. Haenel said the intruders left the home with an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry.
One suspect was described as between 5‘8“ to 6‘ tall with a heavy build. That subject spoke with a Spanish accent reported Haenel. The second suspect is believed to be 5‘4“to 5‘7” in height with a slim build.
Haenel said Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers has posted a reward of up to $5,000 for any information leading to the arrest and filing of charges on the suspects responsible for this crime. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office at 281-341-4665 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers, Inc. at 281-342-TIPS (8477).
