Ready, set…trash: Recycling automation starts in Sugar Land next Monday

Sugar Land kicks off its automated solid waste and recycling program next week on Monday, Dec. 5. The new program will cost $16 a month and residents will get their first statement in January. It will be $1.63 less than the current $17.63 a month fee for the twice weekly curbside garbage and once weekly recycling pick-up. With information magnets mailed by the city already in hand or on the refrigerator or somewhere in the laundry room, city residents no doubt know that they will have automated garbage collection twice per week, automated recycling collection once per week, green waste collection once per week, bulky waste collection once per month and on-call collection service.
